Domestic Energy Performance Certificates (EPCs) tell
you how energy efficient a property is on a scale of A-G.
The most efficient properties - which should have the lowest
fuel bills - are in band A. The Certificate also explains
on a scale of A-G, the impact the property has on the environment.
Better-rated properties should have less impact through
carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions.
The average property in the UK is in bands D-E for both
ratings. The Certificate includes recommendations on ways
to improve the property's energy efficiency to save money
and help the environment.
A Commercial EPC is a document that needs to be in place
prior to marketing a commercial property for sale or let.
This has been introduced as part of the Energy Performance
of Buildings Directive 2007 to help reduce the carbon emissions
from commercial buildings.
